In case we didn't mention it:
MRI is based off of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), which was discovered in the 1930s.
1970- Dr. Raymond Damadian discovered that MRI could be used to help medical diagnosis. He later patented the first full-body MRI scanner.
July 2 and 3, 1977- the first full human scan was done. Also, the first scanner could show clear images of the different body parts with no side effects.
July 3, 1977- the very first MRI image of a human skull was taken.
2002- more than 22,000 MRI cameras were used worldwide and over 60 million MRI exams were performed.
Today an MRI is able to take detailed pictures of the inside of the human body in a matter of seconds.
